    So this?

    No, your IPv6 IP is 3a03:4000:9:1cd::1 (in case you last post is correct and it starts with a 2 than 2a03:4000:9:1cd::1....)

    The gateway should be fe80::1

    For example my /etc/network/interfaces looks like this:

    iface eth0 inet6 static

    address XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX::1

    netmask 64

    gateway fe80::1

    dns-nameservers 2a03:4000:0:1::e1e6 2a03:4000:8000::fce6

    dns-search XXXX

    (whereas I am only using one/the first IP ::1 out of the /64 network)

  • the problem is that am unable to issue the ssl (let's encrypt) with ::1

  • @waqaspuri: Ususally, you'd want to explicitly set it up using static definitions (instead of using dynamic ip addresses assigned through dhcp).

    Unfortunately, the help center (see here) does not really go into detail with respect to different options. So, either search this forum, and/or provide some details first (which OS/version are you using (and did you use a provided image or did you set it up yourself?), where does your configuration live – is it /etc/network/interfaces or is it located in /etc/netplan/... –, … ?)

  • It depends, which IPv6 is the right one.

    Both addresses ::1 and ::54b6:93ff:fe35:219b can be used in general. The EUI-64 identifier is the one netcup is "officially" using to address the server. If you are buying additional /64 networks, they will be routed to your ::54b6:93ff:fe35:219b address.

    Nevertheless, you can use the ::1 address, at least as additional address on your interfaces. In any case you have to ensure, the DNS entries are using the correct address, in particular for Let's Encrypt. Firewall rules etc. have to consider the addresses as well.

    Am using Enhance Control Panel, the server require IPv6 and as soon as the domain name is created it goes to the DNS AAAA record. Am able to combined the IPv6 and it also shows that Port 80 is open. let me check a little more into the details and get back here. if there is certain error causing by Let's Encrypt. I just require a little help to know how do we get the iPv6 address in such a way that i can use it publically use it, like so a IP4

  • A connection with the appropriate Ip is possible?

    What exactly is the error?

    it wasn't able to access the ip and isn't able to issue certificate. causing a error following

    Code
    Failed to issue Let's Encrypt certificate for 'mail.htgpetro.com': LetsEncrypt challenge failed for mail.htgpetro.com: Some(ServerError { type: Some("urn:ietf:params:acme:error:connection"), title: None, status: Some(400), detail: Some("xyzxy::1: Fetching https://mail.htgpetro.com/.well-known/acme-challenge/zy3GX6Qo3lYE4ITnEQRWgMWOxEJ4CFNnX_xFeezoLmg: Timeout during connect (likely firewall problem)") })
  • Does it work now, cause the DNS is now pointing to 2a0a:4cc0:80:32fe:c846:4cff:feb0:d950 which is reachable via ICMP?

    That's seems to work! but i have generated that using the CHATGPT and the port also shows it is Online. whereas am still not sure why the CHATGPT has done it. he used the info `ip -6 addr show` and also i try to renew the Let's Encrypt it is able to issue again successfully.

  • whereas am still not sure why the CHATGPT has done it. he used the info `ip -6 addr show`

    Probably to check which address is currently assigned.

    Would you like to share that with us so we can have a look if the script is okay?

    Generally you shouldn't rely on ChatGPT as a server admin - if you don't have the skills to manage such a server I would strongly recommend to ask someone that does this stuff for you or look for a managed option like a webhosting or managed server.

    With root rights you should be able to understand the ChatGPT output. If you don't it would be the same as giving a hacker access to your server.

    you're truely right. how do i share the info to you ?

  • Thanks. Your ChatGPT solution survives until you reboot your machine. In order to persist it we need to know which Linux Distribution you are using.

    And no, "Enhance Control Panel" is not a Linux Distribution.

    Also: sudo ip -6 route add default via 2a0a:4cc0:80:32fe::1 this guess is wrong and could lead to future problems.
