Hi, I have a problem with the server. When I disconnect from the session I need the applications to continue running while this does not happen because it is as if the screen turns off. In fact, when the remote desktop is reopened, it makes me the animation of the automatic unlocking of the pc. Could you tell me if there is a way to eliminate this automatic screen lock when closing the remote session? Thanks in advance

Hello claudio3080
what Operating System do you use on your VPS and what application is it that bothers you?
-
i'm using windows and the program is not known so it doesn't have a real name
-
windows
Brilliant
- Windows 95
- Windows 98
- Windows 98SE
- Windows 2000
- Windows ME
- Windows Server 2003
- Windows NT4.0 Server
- Windows XP
- Windows Server 2008
- Windows Server 2008R2
- Windows Vista
- Windows 8
- Windows 8.1
- Windows 10
And these are just the one I know of.
Which one is it?
TeamViewer offers an unattended service daemon that doesn't close the session.
Since the programm you are using is unknown: good luck.

This is windows server 2019. Sorry, I didn't understand the TeamViewer thing. What did you mean?
-
-
You want nssm - and beforehand a thorough course in server administration.
-
but the program I'm using is not teamwiever, it would be enough for me that the server doesn't go into lockscreen when I close the remote session on my pc. Do you intend to work around the problem and solve it by installing teamviewer and using some of its settings?
-
The program should run as a service I think. Otherwise it will be terminated when you close the session. But I'm not a Windows Server expert either.
-
Did you try nssm?
Also without knowing the program we can‘t help that much.
-
I'm sorry but I don't know what nssn is, could you explain better what I could do?

The "Non-Sucking Service Manager"
-
I thought that as server administrator you could google that yourself. Seems I was wrong. My bad.
-
ok, i'll try to download it and see how it goes. Let's hope so, thank you very much everyone
-
unfortunately I can't use nssm as the program I have to use is a chrome extension. Do you think there could be some setting that eliminates that kind of screen lock that occurs when the server is closed? In the end the problem is just that, being able to solve that problem would solve everything...

Are you sure you are able to administrate a Windows Server? Are you aware of the security leaks of e.g. RDP? Be aware: If the server is hacked, then you are liable for all the damage caused with it - also financial damage. That can be very expensive (thousands or even ten thousands of EUR).
Maybe you should first think about hardening your server, and afterwards about lock screens.
-
I'm not doing anything illegal with it or anything that will damage anything. However I will look for an alternative resolution. Thank you
-
Then I would love to know what exactly you're trying to achieve. Maybe we can show you a better way to do that. Something like Puppeteer (preferable on Linux) seems to me like a much better solution.

Of course, you don't do this. But your hacker does. And YOU are blamed for it.
What have you done so far, hardening your server? In particular RDP, which you are obviously using?
