Error reinstalling Almalinux10.arm

  • Hello,

I’ve been having a bug issue when trying to reinstall Almalinux10 ARM. The process takes hours to try to install, and in the end, the server shuts down. The server starts up but won’t let me log in. This happens when I try to reinstall using the SSH key I assigned in Netcup’s SCP. However, I’ve used that key before without any issues. I’ve been having this problem for about 36 hours now. I submitted a support ticket through the Netcup website and sent an email, but I haven’t received a response, even after waiting nearly 24 hours.

  • PePex : Are you using your own image or one provided by Netcup? Regardless, I'd suggest you try to boot the KVM instance in question using one of the available Live DVDs that can be found here. This should give you a chance to look at the server logs (and should be better suited than any other rescue image).

  • Same Problem here. It hangs for about 2 hours in the "0 minutes remaining" state and then simply aborts without any further information. This presumably aborted "installation" does not boot either. With the Debian 13 image, the installation completes successfully within the usual timeframe.

Support forwarded the request to the department responsible today.

  • Hello,

Thank you for your response. I was using an image provided by Netcup via SCP, but I've noticed that this issue occurs in both Almalinux and Ubuntu when you try to enter the SSH key you have configured in SCP.

I tried using the Ubuntu 26 image without selecting the SSH key, and in this case the installation completes, but the same doesn’t happen with Almalinux 10 (for ARM).

I’m going to install the image manually to see if it doesn’t get stuck. The problem is that when it gets stuck, I have to wait between 2 and 6 hours—it’s a real hassle. The biggest issue is Netcup’s support; I submitted a ticket through the website and have been waiting for a response for over 36 hours. I think the tickets don’t work when sent through the Netcup website. I sent an email to mail@netcup.de and that didn’t work either. I think I once sent an email to that address and they replied in about 8 hours; the problem is my time zone—there’s a 6-hour difference in Chile.

  • Hi,

I gave up because when I tried booting from a CD/DVD, it still froze in the VNC console, but I installed Ubuntu 24 using an SSH key via SCP, and this time I had no problems.

Also, I’m currently testing Netcup’s servers to see if I should switch so I can migrate my SonicPanel services to a Root Server.

Now the ARM server is helping me run tests to migrate my WHMCS with CloudPanel.

Thanks for the help and recommendations.

    Best regards.

  • On my ARM64 VPS, I was unable to install Rocky Linux 10.0 (minimal) from the ISO provided by Netcup. It would just hang with a grey screen.

The solution was uploading the then just-released 10.1 ISO.

Not exactly the problem you describe, but maybe related.

Edit: I just saw that another user has the same issue as you with Alma 10.1. ?(
