Cpanel Resolv.cnf

  • I am trying to use cpanel with RS 1000 G11 package. Resolv.cnf is configured automatically, using public dns as 1111-8888 after the chattr command to edit the file, the server does not resolve custom name servers from cpanel. Emails etc. do not work.

Does Netcup have any firewall? I would really like to use this vps.

    Thank you

  • Please answer my question. If you have DNS problems, how does your DNS look like?

dns are not applied at server level, name servers do not propagate.

    ns1.site.net IP

    ns2.site.net IP

have been registered on cpanel with relative ip address. Rdns and hostname have been updated. But on the resolv.cnf file I have:

    46.38.225.230

    46.38.252.230

are loaded automatically by netcup. changing to 1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8 does not work. I can't understand.

    ns1.site.net IP

Again those seam to be authoritative name servers and they have nothing to do with resolving name servers that you would enter in the resolv.conf.

If you want to change the name server of your domains, you have to do it in the domain registry at your domain provider, and not your server.

What distribution are you using? Maybe you need to change them via systemd-resolved or disable systemd-resolved all together. Those are the resolving name servers and they have nothing to do with authoritative name servers, rdns and hostnames.
