    I don't think it's hypocrisy.

In fact, the argument presented makes perfect sense. They need available stock even if the machines are working perfectly. In case of failure, there's no way to "wait." The argument presented makes perfect sense. There's also the issue that they need to buy in bulk to get a good price.

Netcup's hardware uptime is extremely high. Above average.

I manage several servers on Netcup and, in case of failure, the VPS is migrated to another host quickly. That's what made me choose Netcup, because, in case of any apparent failure, they migrate the servers quickly before anything more serious happens, only needing a reboot done by themselves, which clients don't even notice.

This increase caught me by surprise and upset me because of the clients who contracted for 12 months, but it's the risk. There's not much I can do. In my case, I chose to absorb the increase and not pass it on to the end customer until the 12 months are over. Analyzing the situation carefully, it's not worth switching to another provider. Even with the price increases, Netcup offers the best cost-benefit ratio. They are constantly updating their equipment with the latest generation processors, etc.

They also have high availability. New and constantly updated hardware and high uptime.

Sometimes it's not better to take risks to save money. In my case, I will absorb the loss and pass it on to the clients when the 12 months are over.

You removed the monthly payment option for annual plans on the website.

For customers who were already using this type of plan, with a 12-month contract but paying monthly, will there be a price increase? Even before the 12-month obligation ends?

Now that I see there have been two price increases. The first increase occurred with the launch of the G12 VPS.

This month I bought a G12 VPS for €9.40. I checked the website now for the same VPS, and there's been another increase; it's gone up to €11.56.

I wish death upon all these artificial intelligences and bankruptcy upon the companies behind them.

Personally, I wouldn't mind paying more. The service is good, and there's a continuous effort to offer the best on the market. Netcup is currently the best in terms of hardware and price. That's undeniable.

I would pay without complaint on monthly contracts, as long as I waited until the end of the 12-month period of the annually contracted services so that we could pass the increase on to the end customer.

I'm even embarrassed to call a customer to suggest a price increase when they've already signed a 12-month contract. For services contracted on a monthly basis, the client is aware that there may be price adjustments at any time. However, when contracting for 12 months, no one expects a price increase before the 12 months are up.

Fine print matters. (Yes, I sometimes hate that fact, too.) Everything netcup is doing is probably covered by their T&C's you signed when partnering with them.

I agree it's absolutely not fun and maybe even aggravating. But shit happens and unnecessary aggravation is just wasted energy as you can't change it now.

It's impossible not to get annoyed having to migrate more than 40 servers.

For those who rent servers as a hobby or manage only one, two, or three servers, this wouldn't be a problem.

In any case, I'm satisfied with the service, but perplexed and surprised by how they're handling this increase.

Recently, I even hired another server at the new price, but I already knew about the new cost, as did the client. Making a 12-month contract and then informing someone that there will be a price adjustment halfway through the period is something I've never seen before. Something new for me in 14 years of selling services. But that's okay. But anyway, lesson learned.

Which is one of many risks of doing business.

And also shows a lack of planning on your part at the time the contract was signed.

A company sells a product at a fixed price for 12 months. Before the end of the term, the company decides to raise the price, and the blame falls on the customer?

    Interesting..

The price is cheaper when contracting for 12 months for obvious reasons.

I guarantee the company that I will pay the fixed price for 12 months, and the company provides the service at a fixed price. This is how it works in any data center. You can adjust prices, but not when you provide value X and guarantee 12 months at that value.

I have never seen a price increase for products contracted for 12 months before the end of the 12-month period.

This is the first time I have encountered this situation.

Exactly. That's what "contracts" are for.

If I commit to maintaining the same price for 12 months, which is what happened when I contracted all my servers with Netcup, then I established a 12-month contract with a fixed price for my clients for an equal period of 12 months.

If they adjust the price, I will have to absorb the loss, without passing it on to the clients, because of the contract.

The increased prices are announced now, but they'll be billed only with the first billing period that starts after 2026-05-01. If you've just paid for 12 months, you're good for 12 months and this price hike will not affect you until next year.

The product was contracted for a 12-month period, but billing is monthly.

The email I received states that the prices of all products will be adjusted.

Services contracted for a 12-month period will also be subject to price adjustments.

In other words, it doesn't make sense to contract for 12 months, because there will still be an increase even before the end of that period.

I contracted for a 12-month period, sold it to the client at the price corresponding to 12 months, and before the end of the 12 months, I receive a price adjustment, and I cannot pass it on to the client for obvious contractual reasons.

    How wonderful.

And there are still people on the forum thanking them.

It's a cult, it has to be.

I completely understand the need to adjust prices, but the way they're doing it is madness. Active products with 12-month contracts are being adjusted before the 12 months are even over. That's definitely unacceptable.
