Hi all ![]()
Thinking to buy for at least 12 months a root server, the: RS 4000 G12.
My idea is to host a Project Zomboid Server on the RS 4000, to have at max 30 peoples and 200+ mods.
Any advice before buy it or another server ?
Thanks ![]()

The server should be powerful enough and the 32 GB DDR5 ECC memory should allow for a heavily modded setup with 50+ players, using anywhere from 16 GB to 30 GB of RAM. I guess the 200+ mods you mentioned counts as heavily modded and the server should be able to keep up with even more players.
But before nagging you about securing this powerful server against attackers and keeping the host up-to-date with security patches and fixes, do you have any experience with operating a root server?

The community tutorial linked below mentions only setting up the software firewall ufw but netcup now also offers a really nice GUI for a netcup firewall that sits before your root server and might be worth taking a look into as well securing everything else than the game server ports.

netcup Firewall (German post):PostAb sofort: Firewall für netcup vServer verfügbar
Hallo zusammen,

[netcup] Sarah G.December 9, 2025 at 8:46 AM Thanks for the answer, no I don't have experience but will learn as much as I can, as I already have a server with a game holster will need to learn how to manage the server all by myself, with documentation will make my way without a problem, fingers crossed ^-^.
Will check the guides and the documentation for sure.
