Issue] Windows Server 2025 – RDP session freezes seconds after login

  • Hello,

I have a VPS with Windows Server 2025 (EN-US, 180-day eval). Remote Desktop connects and works for about 2–3 seconds, then completely freezes (mouse/keyboard unresponsive).

What I've already tried (based on official docs and forums):

    • Installed all Windows Updates, including KB5055523 (supposed to fix RDP freezes on Server 2025).
    • Disabled account lockout (Account lockout threshold = 0).
    • Forced TCP only (Select RDP transport protocols → Use only TCP).
    • Disabled WDDM video driver (Use WDDM ... → Disabled).
    • Created registry key fClientDisableUDP = 1 and restarted TermService.
    • Disabled network detection (Select network detection on the server → Turn off Connect Time Detect...).

Nothing has solved it. VNC access via Screen works fine, but it's not practical for daily use.

I also tried to contact Netcup support by email, but I get an error message and cannot send. That's why I'm posting here.

Does anyone have additional suggestions? Could any SCP setting (e.g., "Windows compatibility mode") be affecting this?

    Thanks for any help.
