Goodmorning,
today when I logged in the Server Control Panel I was welcomed with the following warning: A storage optimization is necessary. This process can be started under "Media".
What is Storage Optimization? Is it a safe process?

What is Storage Optimization?
It is a defragmentation and releases unused blocks from your filesystem.
If you have a rather full filesystem or an encrypted filesystem, you will see this message more often.
You could ignore the message though - it shouldn't have any negative impact on your machine.
You could also release unused block from within your operating system using fstrim: http://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man8/fstrim.8.html
This could also be done with a cronjob.
[…] is fstrim useful also for SAS drives?
Yes, because your SAS drive is just a QCOW2 image at the host machine.
