In den Log-files steht nichts ......

Nimm die mal als Beispiel und lege die als "sshd_config" an und probiere es nochmal.
Die Konfig ist aber nicht abgesichert. Sprich wenns läuft noch Root Login usw verbieten.

Oder ist eine sshd_config dabei, und nur umbenannt? Schau mal in dir Files rein.
sshd logt (jedenfalls unter ubuntu) nach auth.log. Wie unter "man sshd_config" zu sehen kannst du folgende log-Level in der /etc/ssh/sshd_config einstellen:
[B]LogLevel[/B]
Gives the verbosity level that is used when logging messages from
[B][URL='http://www.manpagez.com/man/8/sshd/']sshd(8)[/URL][/B]. The possible values are: QUIET, FATAL, ERROR, INFO,
VERBOSE, DEBUG, DEBUG1, DEBUG2, and DEBUG3. The default is INFO.
DEBUG and DEBUG1 are equivalent. DEBUG2 and DEBUG3 each specify
higher levels of debugging output. Logging with a DEBUG level
violates the privacy of users and is not recommended.
Sollte sshd überhaupt nicht starten, wäre etwas am Kernel oder init-System deines v-Servers kaputt. Aber auch das steht in den (sys)logs.
edit: Da war einer schneller als ich.
Funktioniert leider immer noch nicht.
Kann ich meinen vServer total erneuern?
